وجهت روسيا رسالة، اليوم الثلاثاء، للرئيس الأميركي الجديد دونالد ترامب، تنبهه فيها من الاستيلاء على قناة بنما سواء بالإكراه العسكري أو الاقتصادي.

ووفقا لما نقلته صحيفة “بوليتيكو” عن وسائل إعلام روسية، قال ألكسندر شيتينين، مدير قسم أميركا اللاتينية بوزارة الخارجية الروسية : “نتوقع أنه خلال المناقشات المتوقعة بين قيادة بنما والرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب بشأن قضايا السيطرة على قناة بنما، ستحترم الأطراف النظام القانوني الدولي الحالي لهذا الممر المائي الرئيسي”.

وأردف: “تؤكد روسيا التزاماتها بالحفاظ على الحياد الدائم لقناة بنما، وتدعو إلى إبقاء هذا الممر المائي الدولي آمنًا ومفتوحًا، الولايات المتحدة ليس لديها الحق في التدخل في الشؤون الداخلية لبنما”.

إذ تربط قناة بنما بين المحيطين الأطلسي والهادئ وهي واحدة من أهم طرق التجارة في الولايات المتحدة، حيث يمر بها حوالي 40 بالمئة من جميع سفن الحاويات في البلاد.

هذا وأثار تهديد ترامب الأصلي بشأن القناة الشهر الماضي غضبا حادا من الرئيس البنمي خوسيه راؤول مولينو، الذي وصف هيمنة بلاده الواقعة في أميركا الوسطى على الممر المائي بأنها “غير قابلة للتفاوض”.

وفي سياق متصل، قال مولينو: “بصفتي رئيسًا، أريد أن أصرح بوضوح أن كل متر مربع من قناة بنما والمنطقة المجاورة لها ملك لبنما وسيظل كذلك”.
